After eight straight days of postings, health advisory signs have been removed from the beach south of the Pismo Beach pier.
Retesting of the beach water Wednesday showed that bacteria levels were within state health standards. Water samples initially exceeded health levels more than a week ago and repeated samples similarly failed.
Pismo Beach and other popular beaches in the county are sampled weekly for three types of bacteria. If the sample contains high bacteria levels, health warning signs are posted and new samples are taken daily until bacteria levels return to safe levels.
The beach south of the Pismo pier regularly exceeds health standards, but the eight days of warnings that ended today is unprecedented.
