A rash of vehicle burglaries in Arroyo Grande is prompting police to advise residents to lock their doors.
The string of burglaries occurred in the areas of Bennett, Branch, Spruce and Pine and Poplar streets and Village Glenn and East Grande Avenue, according to Arroyo Grande police.
Over the last month 11 vehicle burglaries from unlocked vehicles have been reported to police. Stolen property included cell phones, purses, iPods, DVD monitors, GPS systems, jewelry, checkbooks, keys and cash, police said.
Police are reminding people to lock their vehicles and park them in well-lighted areas, activate car alarms, roll up the windows and remove all valuables from plain view.
