Cal Poly student newspaper wins several awards

The Mustang Daily, Cal Poly’s student newspaper, has received several awards from the California Collegiate Media Association, according to college officials.

Mustang Daily reporter Ryan Chartrand won second place for the Best Arts and Entertainment Story; Frank Stranzl took second for Best Sports Column; James Glenn earned second for Best Cartoon; and Caitlin Donnell got third for Best News Page Design. The Mustang Daily's online paper won third place in the Best Use of Multimedia category. The paper won two first-place awards for advertising: Best Black and White Ad and Best Media Kit/Promotional Materials.

The Media Association is comprised of four-year college and university media organizations.

Paul Bittick, general manager of Cal Poly’s student paper, was elected president of the CCMA. Kristen Marschall was elected one of the three student board members.
