Sharon Roemer, 10-year principal of Ocean View Elementary School in Arroyo Grande, will leave her post at year’s end to join the district office as the assistant superintendent of instruction.
The position – which oversees district’s curriculum and instruction – has been vacant for a year. Former district superintendent Nancy DePue, was hired last month, to fill the position on an interim basis.
Roemer has worked with the school district for more than 35 years, including time at Mesa Middle School, Shell Beach Elementary, Oceano and Dana Elementary in Nipomo. Roemer will begin the new position July 1.
“Ocean View is a fantastic school, with great parents and great students,” said Roemer. “It was a hard choice to leave something I really enjoy.”
