Alleged drunken driver crashes Sunday in southern SLO county

An alleged drunk driver was seen driving erratically Sunday on Highway 166 near the south San Luis Obispo County line before she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a ditch.

At 1:56 p.m., Emily Lee, 25, of Oildale, was driving a Jeep Cherokee west from Cuyama when she allegedly passed another motorist unsafely and started driving on the pavement, according to the CHP. Nearby drivers called 911.

As Lee continued driving, according to the CHP, another driver allegedly saw her driving 90 to 100 mph and passing over double-yellow lines. She allegedly stopped three times for no apparent reason, and passed one motorist three times.

At 2:38, a CHP officer saw Lee driving approximately 72 mph and turned around to follow her. Lee turned south onto Bull Canyon Road, where she lost control of the Jeep about a mile in and drove into a ditch.

Lee was taken to Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria with moderate injuries. Her passenger, a 43-year-old Oildale resident, was treated and released for minor injuries.
