Caltrans will install “rumble strips” – grooves in the pavement - at various locations along Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County in May and June.
The strips, installed along the inside and outside shoulders, alert motorists when their vehicle drifts in those directions.
The strips will go in:
** from the Santa Maria River bridge to one mile south of the Tefft Street overcrossing;

** from two-tenths of a mile south of Los Berros Road to two-tenths of a mile north of El Campo Road; and
** from the San Luis Obispo Creek bridge to Los Osos Valley Road overcrossing.
Caltrans has not determined specific dates for the work, but all will take place at night, from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m., in both directions.
