Morro Bay police are warning residents to keep their doors locked after receiving reports of a string of petty thefts in the area.
Last week the department took numerous reports of thefts from residential units and vehicles on Surf Street, according to Cmdr. Tim Olivas.
That has prompted officers to increase foot patrol in the area, Olivas said.
He added that residents should take precaution by locking garages, doors and vehicles and that anyone who hears or sees suspicious activity near their residence at any time should call the police department immediately.
