Four candidates vie for spot on Grover city council

The four candidates seeking the vacant Grover Beach City Council seat are Liz Doukas, Ronald Arnoldsen, Deborah Peterson and Karen Bright, according to City Manager Bob Perrault.

Doukas is a court reporter who ran for the council in the November election. Arnoldsen is a former Grover Beach councilman and dentist. Peterson is a real estate agent and current Grover Beach planning commissioner. Bright is also a current Grover planning commissioner who has served on the Parent Teacher Association for the Lucia Mar school district.

Three of the candidates have been interviewed by the council at a recent meeting. Bright was ill and will be interviewed May 7 -- Grover Beach’s next council meeting -- when a decision is expected.

The seat became open when councilman Larry Versaw announced he was moving out of the city limits to the Nipomo Mesa.

For more information about the meeting, call the city at 473-4567 or visit the city’s website at www.grover.org.
