Students at Cal Poly will be able to gather in the University Union Plaza Wednesday at noon for a special memorial service honoring those students and faculty members killed in the Virginia Tech massacre on Monday.
The Wednesday service is expected to last less than an hour and feature different speakers to reassure and comfort students, said Cornel Morton, vice president for student affairs.
Morton said that Cal Poly President Warren Baker will also be sending out a letter to the student body about the Virginia Tech incident later today.
The body count in the shooting at Virginia Tech made Monday’s incident the largest mass shooting in the history of the United States. A total of 33 people, including the shooter, died on the campus of 26,000 students in Blackburg, Va.
