Upcoming pet events in San Luis Obispo County

Here’s a look at upcoming pet-related events around the county:

Blessing of the animals

North County Humane Society will present a Blessing of the Animals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 2300 Ramona Road in Atascadero. The Rev. Sherry Chapman will individually bless large and small animals and present commemorative certificates. For more information, call 466-5403.

Doggie Easter parade

The Cayucos Lioness Club’s Easter Bonnet Dog Parade will begin at noon April 4 at Hardie Park in Cayucos. Preregistration fee is $8, or $10 day of registration. Proceeds from this event go toward the Cayucos Lioness Mutt Mitts program, and donations are made to local shelters in the name of the dogs that win the certificates. Wines for felines

The Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) will hold the fundraiser event Wines, Pines and Felines from 5 to 9 p.m. April 12. The event includes live music, wine, art, alive auction and dinner. Wine tasting for Woods

Wine 4 Paws, a fundraising event for Woods Humane Society, will be held at more than 60 wineries throughout San Luis Obispo County on April 25 and 26.

During the weekend, the participating wineries will donate a portion of their proceeds to Woods Humane Society.

Spay and neuter vouchers available

The Feline Network of the Central Coast has spay/neuter vouchers available for people who need financial help and reside in San Luis Obispo, the South County area or Los Osos and Morro Bay. The vouchers are worth $60 toward a spay and $40 toward a neuter, and they can be redeemed at vet offices countywide. To obtain a voucher, call 549-9228, ext. 707.

Cat trappers needed

The Feline Network urgently needs volunteers to trap feral cats for spaying and neutering, especially as kitten season approaches. Trappers are needed in the South County and San Luis Obispo. The Feline Network will provide traps and training. A vehicle is necessary to transport cats to and from trapping sites and vet offices.
