This week, San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter volunteer Ellen Perryess features a collection of senior dogs that are waiting for new forever homes:
From there to here, and here to there, senior pets are everywhere.
Some are active as all get out. Others are happy to lie about.
Sad, some owners just passed away, other didn’t notice their pets went astray.

Seuss verse or not, senior pets at the SLO County Animal Services Shelter are looking for homes.
Dolly’s a 10-year-old boxer who lives for love. She’s people-focused but also fine with dogs of all sizes. Dolly needs to lose weight, though she prefers lounging around with people over exercise.
Sugar and Pogo each lost their homes when their owners died. Sugar’s a youthful 12-year-old Jack Russell/Corgi mix who is good on a leash, enjoys other dogs and gets along with cats and kids.
A gentle 8-year-old Chihuahua, Pogo has lived with cats and loves to be held.
Doodle’s owner also died, plus the dog needed surgery. Thankfully, ARF donations covered the operation. Doodle’s looking for an adopter who’ll recognize that her value far exceeds the cost of Science Diet kibble.
Wally’s an 8-year-old flat-coated retriever mix who effortlessly bounds after tennis balls. Wally knows “sit” and loves to play fetch.
Need a lap warmer? Stormy’s a 9-year-old Chihuahua with excellent companion skills — enjoys walks, is crate-trained and loves to be near her person. See their slideshow at http://youtu.be/y02NDc1466w.
With yearning hearts senior dogs all know, heaven’s the place we all call home.
