The Friends of the Morro Bay Police Department will hold a benefit K9 Walk-a-Thon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Morro Rock in Morro Bay.
The event includes police K9 demonstrations (with a special appearance by Morro Bay Police Department K9, Xello), food, beverages, adoptable dogs, a dog carnival, prizes, contests, vendors and more.

Adventures with Gentle Horses children’s summer camps will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 14 and Aug. 11 at Heaven Can Wait Equine Sanctuary.
Children ages 4 to 12 will learn about equine manners, safety and grooming. They will read to and walk with the horses, create an art project and observe or participate with a gentle equine in a round pen event.

Organizations hosts cat-adoption events
Through this month, Woods Humane Society is holding “name your own price” feline adoptions. All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

The Feline Network holds cat and kitten adoptions from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays at the Petco in the Madonna Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo.
Cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested and vaccinated. The adoption fee is $60 for one or $80 for two. A free vet exam is included.
