Game, gimpy Starla seeks a home

‘If homes were found based on having a gentle, happy nature, Starla would already have a home.

“Starla, a flat-coated retriever mix about 9 years old with a coat as soft as angora and a ready smile, loves to run and go for walks, though an old injury gives her a somewhat awkward-looking front foot.

“Not that this bothers Starla — she’s just happy to be alive.

“November is National Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month.

“Starla has that mature-dog sensibility — active when you want a playmate, a couch potato when you want peace and quiet. A generous shelter visitor has paid half of her adoption fee; she’s just needs a home.”

— Animal shelter volunteer Ellen Perryess

For more about Starla, ID No. 171642, call the San Luis Obispo County Animal Shelter volunteer line at 781-4413 or visit www.slo animalservices.com.

The shelter is at 885 Oklahoma Ave., off Highway 1 in San Luis Obispo.

The adoption fee — $75 for cats, $100 for dogs, plus a $20 county license fee for dogs if the adopters are San Luis Obispo County residents — includes spaying or neutering, basic vaccinations, a microchip, eligibility for a free veterinarian check, a new collar and ID tag, plus a carrier for cats.
