El Chorro Dog Park's 14th anniversary
El Chorro Dog Park in San Luis Obispo celebrates its 14th anniversary from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the dog park. Festivities include anniversary cupcakes, appetizers, beverages and doggie treats. Former president and co-founder Ann Calhoun will be remembered with a tribute and the unveiling of her memorial bench. The event is sponsored by SLO-4-PUPS. For information, call 543-7213.

The Wiggle Waggle Walk returns for its 23rd year from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 17 at Mitchell Park in San Luis Obispo with the theme “Wild West.” The event includes a pet fair, doggie fun zone obstacle course and canine costume competitions. The 1-mile walkathon around downtown San Luis Obispo begins at Mitchell Park. Walkers can register online at http://woodshumane.org/walk2015. Cost is $15 per adult and $10 per child; fee comes with a T-shirt and walker goodie-bag. All proceeds provide ongoing shelter, medical care and behavioral training for cats and dogs at Woods Humane Society. For information, call 543-9316.
Dogtoberfest will be held Oct. 17, in conjunction with Atascadero Colony Days, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Sunken Gardens at 6505 El Camino Real, Atascadero. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event includes wiener dog races, wiener wannabe dog races, a pet parade, raffles and a costume contest. Cause for Paws raffle
The Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) Guardian Angel program is sponsoring a fundraising raffle that began Sept. 1 and ends Oct. 31. Raffle tickets are available for purchase, one ticket for $10, or three for $25. Tickets can be purchased at the HART office, 2638 Main St., Cambria or over the phone at 927-7377. All proceeds will go to paying medical expenses for the cats and kittens of HART.
Adopt a cat in SLO
The Feline Network of the Central Coast has an abundance of cute kittens that need forever homes in order to make room for new kittens that need to be placed in foster care. Kitten adoptions are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday at Petco in the Madonna Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo.
Kittens and cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for leukemia and FIV. Adoption fee is $60. For information on adoptions and low-cost spay or neuter in San Luis Obispo or the South County and help with feral cats, call 549-9228.
