Hearts and arts obviously rhyme, but they go together in another way for the upcoming "HeARTS
Obispo." Opening Friday, the ARTS Obispo show is an exhibit and sale of valentines in a variety of media. A reception promises love songs and desserts.
More than three dozen local artists have provided work including small sculptures, jewelry, paintings and elaborate handmade cards. Some offerings will be sold outright, while others will go to the highest bidder through a silent auction. Proceeds will be split, half going to ARTS Obispo’s Arts in Education and half to the artists.
Items not sold on opening night will be displayed through Feb. 13, the day before Valentine’s Day. Unlike flowers or chocolates, gifts of art won’t fade away or be devoured. Art, like love, has lasting value.
