Aaron Carter, the tween favorite who transitioned to the theatrical stage and reality TV as an adult, will perform in San Luis Obispo later this month.
Now 26, Carter will perform his hit songs, along with tunes from his latest album — his first new effort in a decade — at SLO Brew in San Luis Obispo on Sept. 25.
Carter, whose brother Nick was a member of the Backstreet Boys, began performing at age 7. He got his first big break opening for his brother’s band in 1997.
A hit with the tween crowds, he moved up the charts with a cover of “I Want Candy,” “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” and “That’s How I Beat Shaq.”
In 2001, he made his acting debut, guest-starring on the Disney Channel series “Lizzie McGuire.” Carter and his siblings later starred in a reality show, “House of Carters,” on the E! channel. And in 2009, he became a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars,” finishing fifth with partner Karina Smirnoff.
He has also appeared on several other TV shows and movies, including "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," "7th Heaven" and "Fat Albert."
He has also performed on the theater stage, with credits that include "Seussical" and “The Fantasticks."
Tickets for the show are $17 in advance and $20 at the door. For more information, contact SLO Brew at 543-1843.
