An impressive 771 steers, lambs, hogs and goats were sold by 4-H and FFA students at the California Mid-State Fair Junior Livestock Auction on Saturday, compared with 668 animals sold last year. This year’s auction brought in nearly $2 million in estimated sales.
The average price for hogs was $8.75 per pound, compared with $8.20 last year. The average price for steers was $4.52 per pound, up from $4.13 last year. For lambs, the average price was $12.37 per pound, up from $11.90 last year.
