Art After Dark to debut in Los Osos

A new monthly arts event is coming to Los Osos.

Art After Dark Los Osos, which kicks off next week, will be held the last Friday of every month at the South Bay Community Center, 2180 Palisades Ave. in Los Osos. The event is being organized by Arts Obispo, the San Luis Obispo County Arts Council, in conjunction with the South Bay Community Center.

“Los Osos is a haven to many, many visual artists and artisans,” said Angela Tahti, Arts Obispo executive director. “We believe their friends and neighbors will come out and enjoy a festive evening of art, music, chatter (and) refreshments close to home, and spread the word.”

Arts Obispo currently hosts Art After Dark on the first Thursday of the month in downtown San Luis Obispo, and co-hosts Art After Dark Paso — held on the first Saturday of the month in Paso Robles — with Studios on the Park.

Tahti said Arts Obispo board member A.J. Fudge, who also sits on the South Bay Community Center board, was instrumental in organizing the Los Osos event.

The inaugural Art After Dark Los Osos, 6 to 9 p.m. on June 26, will feature live jazz music by the Justin Pecot Trio and works by 23 artists, including woodworker Jim Amberg, encaustic painter Flo Bartell and glass sculptor George Jercich. The event is free and open to the public; beer, wine and food will be available for sale.
