4 Broadway shows are coming to Cal Poly PAC next year. See the lineup
Four national Broadway tours will visit San Luis Obispo next year for the first time in the venue’s history, the Performing Arts Center announced in an email on Monday.
From ghosts and demons to a Tudor-era king and his many marriages, the lineup offers entertainment for various ages and interests.
The Broadway tours will accompany an array of other visual and performing arts opportunities rounding out the season.
Tickets for all the shows will go on sale on July 6 at 10 a.m., according to the announcement.
What shows are coming to SLO?
First up, “Beetlejuice” the musical will be showing for two days in January, the announcement said.
The story, inspired by director Tim Burton’s 1998 film of the same name, revolves around a teenage girl who encounters ghosts and a stripe-wearing demon.
It’ll be showing at 7:30 pm on both Jan. 18 and 19, with tickets ranging from $79 to $135, according to the PAC website.
The show was recommended for ages 13 and older, due to “strong language, mature references, and a lot of the crazy, inappropriate stuff you would expect from a deranged demon,” the website said.
Next on the docket is “Shucked” — a story that revolves around a couple whose wedding plans are interrupted when the local corn crop starts to die.
“Shucked” will also run at the PAC for two nights — showing on April 6 and 7, at 7:30 p.m.
The production was recommended for audiences age 10 and up, the website said. Tickets will run from $79 to $129.
In May, Henry VIII’s six wives will take to the stage, turning “five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a euphoric celebration of 21st century girl power” in the celebrated musical “SIX,” the PAC’s website said.
“This new original musical is the global sensation that everyone is losing their head over,” the website said.
Recommended for ages 10 and up, the show will be featured on May 18 and 19, with a 7:30 p.m. start time. Tickets will range from $79 to $135, the website said.
And finally, “A Beautiful Noise - The Neil Diamond Musical” will play at the PAC for one day in June, rounding out the season of national Broadway tours to visit the venue.
The show is based on the true story of Neil Diamond’s comeuppance as a successful rock musician. The PAC website described it as an “inspiring, exhilarating, energy-filled musical memoir” that features some of Diamond’s biggest hits.
The musical was recommended for all ages, according to the website. It’ll show on June 10 at 7:30 p.m., with tickets ranging from $75 to $135.
