      Lintner in sixth place in Lakeport

      Although he slipped from second to sixth place Friday in the Bassmaster Elite tournament, Jared Lintner is within striking distance of qualifying for the finals. The Arroyo Grande pro will be fishing today on Clear Lake in Lakeport for a berth in the finals on Sunday. He needs to be among the top 12 to accomplish his goal. It would be his fifth time as a finalist. On a day when 16 competitors brought at least 20 pounds of fish to the scales, Lintner weighed a 17-pound, 14-ounce limit. He has a two-day weight of 41-2. The scramble for berths in the finals is extremely competitive. Eight pros have over 40 pounds. Two others start Friday with 39 pounds and eight others have 38 pounds. Byron Velvick maintained his position atop the leaderboard with a 51-pound total for his two limits.

      Cuesta pole vaulter posts state’s best mark
