Comments (0) | William Long hit a two-out, two-run triple as part of a five-run inning, and the San Luis Obispo Blues cruised to an 11-2 win at SLO Stadium during a summer collegiate baseball game Wednesday over the Santa Maria Valley Packers.
Blues right fielder Jason Brooks went 3 for 3 with a walk and three RBI. Brooks was the only Blues player to have a multi-hit game during their eight-hit attack.
David Van Ostrand was 1 for 3 with a pair of walks, an RBI and two runs scored for the Blues (21-6).
San Luis Obispo capitalized on 10 walks and four errors by the Packers as every Blues player reached base at least once.
San Luis Obispo Rattlers 4, Santa Maria Pilots 1
The Rattlers touched up Pilots starting pitcher Kirk Fridrich for three runs (one earned) through the first five-plus innings and held on for a California Collegiate League baseball game.
San Luis Obispo scored twice in the third inning on Josh Jackson’s two-run homer that scored Robert Vickers. Jackson had two of the Rattlers eight hits and was the only player with a multi-hit game.
After the Pilots cut the lead in half with a run in the fifth inning, San Luis Obispo (put the game out of reach with runs in the sixth and the seventh.
Rattlers starting pitcher Jared Winder (2-0) received the win after pitching five innings and allowing one run on one hit, one walk while striking out five.
