Auburn, Al a.
Auburn tailback Brad Lester has returned to practice but his status remains uncertain for Saturday’s game with No. 6 LSU.
Lester was held out of contact drills in Tuesday’s practice for 10th-ranked Auburn with a sprained neck sustained against Mississippi State.
Coach Tommy Tuberville said Lester has a long way to go before Thursday’s practice and has to be able to have contact before he’s allowed to play.
Tuberville said MRIs have found no damage, and that a Birmingham neurosurgeon left it up to Lester whether he plays or not.
Lester is Auburn’s No. 2 rusher with 148 yards but has started the first three games.

The Los Angeles Lakers announced a new variable pricing plan for tickets this season, including premium prices for seven games against the NBA’s top teams.
Under the new plan, tickets in various sections of Staples Center will have three different prices—an individual game price; a discounted season seat price; and a premium price.
The seven premium games are: Dec. 25 against the NBA champion Boston Celtics; Jan. 19 against Cleveland; Jan. 25 against San Antonio; Feb. 20 against New Orleans; Feb. 26 against Phoenix; March 15 against Dallas; and April 3 vs. Houston.
“This has been a growing trend in sports and entertainment ticket pricing in recent years and allows us to increase revenues to offset our increasing payroll costs,” Tim Harris, senior vice president of business operations, said Tuesday.
“At the same time, while determining the market value of ticket prices, we were sensitive to being able to protect our season seat holders by keeping their price increases to a minimum.”
Anaheim
The Anaheim Ducks placed defenseman Mathieu Schneider on waivers.
The 39-year-old NHL veteran has until 9 this morning to be claimed by another team. If he isn’t, Schneider will clear waivers and remain property of the Ducks.
He had 12 goals and 27 assists in 65 games for the Ducks last season. Schneider appeared in all six playoff games, with one goal. He had a plus-or-even rating in 32 consecutive games (plus-17) from Dec. 18-March 5, the longest streak in the league last season.
He has played for seven teams during his 20-year NHL career, including the Los Angeles Kings. Schneider signed a two-year, $11.25 million contract in July 2007, before the Ducks knew for sure that Scott Niedermayer was going to return.

Brooks Conrad and Donnie Murphy each had two hits and drove in a run to help the Sacramento River Cats beat the Scranton/Wilkes- Barre Yankees 4-1 and win the Triple-A championship game for the second straight year.
Wes Bankston and Conrad had one-out RBI singles off Yankees prospect Ian Kennedy (0-2) in the first inning, and Casey Rogowski gave the Oakland Athletics’ affiliate a 3-0 lead with a run-scoring fielder’s choice.
