Paso Robles High won the PAC 8 wrestling tournament with 167 points Saturday at Atascadero, narrowly edging second-place Righetti by six points, and qualifying 13 of 14 varsity wrestlers for the CIF-Southern Section individual tournament.
Oscar Covarrubias won his weight class at 115 pounds, Kameron Morones won at 128 pounds and Trevor Torres won at 140 pounds for Paso Robles.
Three other wrestlers were runners-up in their weight classes — Lawrence Ray at 132 pounds, Carlos Morgado at 195 pounds and Manny Mendez at 220 — for the Bearcats.
Atascadero had three wrestlers win their classes on its way to a fourth-place team overall. Seth Burchfield won at 160 pounds, Tannen Soojian took first at 170 pounds and Karson Block won at 195 pounds.

Riley Mete, Nick Ducasse, and Jordan Counsel each took third at 120, 154 and 220 pounds, respectively, for Atascadero. Two other wrestlers qualified for the Southern Section meet, making it eight overall heading to the postseason for the Greyhounds.
Arroyo Grande had five wrestlers make it to the finals for their weight classes, and two ended up champions in a fifth-place team effort for the Eagles.
Isaiah Hughes pinned top-ranked Ducasse in the semifinals of the 154-pound weight class before winning in the finals, while Chris Maez won by injury default in the finals for 182 pounds.
Overall, eight wrestlers qualified for the CIF-Southern Section tournament for the Eagles.
