Nipomo High’s Cynthia Navis shot a 6-over 78 in the CIF-Southern Section Northern individual regional at the River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard on Monday to qualify for the Southern Section individual championship and WSCGA qualifying tournament next Thursday in Chino Hills.
Navis was one of 11 players tied at 78, with only nine spots remaining for the second stage. The senior made a five on the first playoff hole while enough other players shot either six or seven, and Navis advanced.
Righetti freshman and PAC 8 champion Sarah Fouratt also played her way inside the top 36 to qualify for the next round, shooting a 75.
The next-best finisher from the county was San Luis Obispo’s Neha Sikand, who shot an 86.
