The Atascadero High boys tennis team and Templeton both won nine sets in their match Monday in Atascadero, with the Greyhounds edging their North County rival 68-62 in games.
Elias Jordan and Ross Schaefer swept 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 in doubles, and Brendan Adams won two of three singles sets for Atascadero (12-4).
Chaz Darrow swept his singles sets for Templeton (4-14), and Michael Murray won two of three sets. The doubles team of Andrew Heim and Matt Jardini won two of three sets for the Eagles.
Best of the West Tournament at Pioneer Valley
Ashley Stevens was a combined 4 for 5 at the plate as Templeton defeated St. Joseph 3-1 before falling 5-1 to Alemany.
Corinne Barto pitched six innings, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out eight in the victory for the Eagles (7-12). Stevens drove in one run, and Makayla Zundel was 2 for 3 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Stevens was 2 for 2 with a double and threw five innings, allowing three hits and striking out six in the loss. Hailey Wyand was 2 for 2 with a double.
Paso Robles (8-7) also split its games, as the Bearcats beat Morro Bay 7-0 but lost 8-2 to San Diego Cathedral Catholic.
Chloe Kerns was a combined 4 for 6 in the two games. Kaley Marquez hit a three-run double and Dakota Rodriguez pitched all six innings, striking out three, in the win.
Nicole Raithel drove in a run for the Bearcats in their loss.
Morro Bay defeated St. Joseph 5-4 in six innings. No other statistics were provided.
St. Anthony’s 16, Mission Prep 7
Marco Ferdinandi and Eddie Fernandez both hit a pair of singles, but it was not enough to lead the Royals past the team from Long Beach at the St. Paul’s Easter Tournament.
Fernandez drove in a run, and Andy Boncich and Chance Keegan both doubled for Mission Prep (3-13), which faces Pasadena St. Bernard’s today.
