Atascadero High wrestler Karson Block bowed out of the consolation bracket Saturday at the CIF state meet in Bakersfield after losing 2-1 in to Dylan Bollinger of Sultana High.
Block (195 pound) won his first match of the day against Ben Madrid from Fountain Valley in a 3-2 decision and finished the tournament with a 3-2 record.
Block was the only San Luis Obispo County wrestler at the state meet.
California Tennis Classic
San Luis Obispo won the Division 3 Championship at the tournament at Buchanan High in Fresno.
San Luis Obispo (6-1) won both of its matches Saturday and all three Friday.
The Tigers beat Garces 5-1 and Bella Vista 4-2 on Saturday.
“At a tournament like this, your depth really shows,” San Luis Obispo coach Ken Peet said. “And our depth really showed. The doubles teams led the way and were stellar all weekend.”
The Tigers’ doubles team of Noah Cleere and Alex Dill won 6-0, 6-0 against Garces and 6-1, 6-0 against Bella Vista, and only lost four of the 60 games they played in the tournament.
The senior doubles team of Josh Milla and Luke Olson swept 6-4, 6-4 in the first match and 6-1, 6-3 against Bella Vista.
Arroyo Grande finished fourth in Division 3 after losing 5-1 to Bella Vista and 4-2 to Garces.
All three doubles teams went 1-1 for the Eagles (3-3) and no singles teams won.
The doubles team of Elias Jordan and Ross Schaefer swept the entire tournament for Atascadero (5-1) in Division 5 play.
On Saturday, Jordan and Schaefer went 6-3, 6-0 in a 5-1 victory over University and 6-3, 6-3 in a 4-2 win over Taft.
Templeton (2-5) lost both of its matches in Division 3, falling 4-2 to West Ranch and 3-3 (58-52 games won tiebreaker in games) to Bakersfield Christian.
Matt Jardini won his final three sets of the day for the Eagles 6-4, 6-4, 6-3, after dropping his first set 6-3.
Santa Ynez Tournament
Morro Bay lost 9-2 to Santa Paula and 8-2 to San Marcos.
Fallon Molnar went 3 for 5 on the day for Morro Bay (0-3).
Atascadero’s Sara Wulff went 2 for 3 for the Greyhounds in their 4-1 loss to Oaks Christian.
Tro Comin drove in the only run for the Greyhounds (4-1-1). Sally Bowles pitched five innings and had two strikeouts.
Nipomo (4-3) lost 9-2 against Independence.
Ashley Ruiz led the Titans, going 3 for 3 with a double and RBI. Destiny Fryckman went 2 for 2 with an RBI.
Templeton (3-3) won both of its games, defeating McLane 13-0 and Central Valley Christian 15-0.

The Eagles won both of their games at the Buchanan Tournament in Fresno.
Corinne Bargo went 3 for 3 with two doubles, six RBI, and struck out six while in the circle for the Eagles (3-3) against McLane.
Ashley Stevens had two RBI and a triple for Templeton, and Kiana Alba went 3 for 4, batting in three runs.
In the Eagles’ second game, Ashley Stevens was the winning pitcher, giving up one hit and striking out five.
Offensively, Stevens went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple and finished the night with three RBI.
Alba scored three runs and Jessie Neal scored two.
San Luis Obispo Tournament
In the gold division, Arroyo Grande won two out of four games and lost in the first round of the playoffs.
They beat Rio Mesa (25-12, 25-18) and South Madera (25-15, 25-14) but lost to Saugus (22-25, 25-21, 15-5).
In the playoffs, the Eagles lost to Laguna Hills (25-20).
Jack Empey led Arroyo Grande (5-2) with 16 kills and 12 aces, while Keanu Morrison had 16 kills.
In the silver division, Mission Prep (5-3) lost its first match but won its next three, as they had to call up junior varsity players because of injury.

San Luis Obispo Throw Down
The Paso Robles four-boys discus won team at 504 feet, 2 inches.
Nipomo’s Jared Springer won the boys shot put event individually at 50-21⁄2.
The Arroyo Grande girls four-person discus team won at 379-3, and the Eagles’ four-person shot put team came in first at 122-8.
