The San Luis Obispo High football team came away with a 35-21 victory at Pioneer Valley on Friday night.
The game was seldom in doubt as San Luis Obispo (4-3, 2-1) rolled to a 28-0 lead at halftime.
Tigers defensive back Nick Hill had three interceptions, including a game-sealing 50-yard return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Pioneer Valley shot themselves in the foot, as, in addition to the three picks, the Panthers (2-4, 0-2 PAC 7) were flagged for 15 penalties for 132 yards.
Pioneer Valley outgained San Luis Obispo 303-276 but the turnovers turned the tide for the Tigers.
Tigers quarterback Garrett Giovannelli only attempted nine passes, but threw two touchdowns and ran for another. He finished with 86 yards passing and 67 rushing yards on six carries.
Pioneer Valley cut the deficit in half with two Codie Corbin rushing touchdowns in under a minute, thanks to a successful onside kick, but only managed to score again when the game was already in hand after Hill’s third interception.
