The Atascadero High girls tennis team swept two matches, and Arroyo Grande split two matches at the California Tennis Classic on Friday.The Greyhounds, playing in Division 5, defeated El Diamante 5-1 before defeating Pioneer by the same score.
Amber Petersen, Mallory Miller and Aspen Bethel all swept in singles for Atascadero against El Diamante. Against Pioneer, the Greyhounds doubles teams didn’t lose a set, highlighted by Emma Seitzer and Jessica Egan winning 6-1, 6-0.
The Eagles, playing in Division 1, fell 5-2 to Archbishop Mitty before cruising to a 7-0 win over Dana Hills.
Against Archbishop Mitty, the doubles team of Amber Domako and Zoe Miller won 6-3, 6-3, and Melina Rodgers and Joanne Phung won 6-3, 7-5 for the Eagles.
Against Dana Hills, Sophie Whittle, Lauren Hayashi Alice Mero and Angelica Gagliano all won in straight sets in singles for the Eagles, as did the doubles teams of Domako and Miller and Rodgers and Alexis Flood.
San Luis Obispo volleyball tournament
The San Luis Obispo High girls volleyball team swept all three of its matches in the first day of its own tournament.
The Tigers defeated Hueneme 25-11, 25-13, Andrew Hill 25-16, 25-7 and Oak Park 25-14, 25-17.
Anna Pederson had a combined 19 kills in the three matches. Ariel Becker had 17 kills.
Atascadero was swept by Camarillo 26-24, 25-19 and then beat Sunnyside 25-23, 25-21.
The Greyhounds play Morro Bay in a consolation match today.
Paso Robles lost to Logan 25-15, 25-18 and to Frontier 25-15, 25-16. The Bearcats then beat Rio Mesa 25-20, 25-22.
