he San Luis Obispo and Templeton baseball teams and the Atascadero and Nipomo softball teams will open the CIF-Southern Section playoffs at home, while a slew of others will go on the road.
All games are scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
In Division 2 on Thursday, San Luis Obispo (21-6) will host the winner of today’s wild-card game between Redlands and Bellflower. The Tigers won the PAC 7 title with a 17-1 record.
Templeton (18-4) is also coming off a standout season, tying for the Los Padres League title with Lompoc at 10-2. Templeton will host Serrano (14-9) of Phelan in Division 5 on Friday.

In softball, Atascadero (24-3) awaits the winner of today’s wild-card game between Paramount and El Segundo. The Greyhounds, who won the PAC 7 championship with a 10-2 mark, will host a Division 3 first-round game Thursday. And Nipomo (16-9), which captured its first outright LPL title last week with a 9-3 record, opens the Division 5 playoffs against visiting Arroyo (11-9) on Thursday.
Several other PAC 7 and LPL teams will start the postseason today in the wild-card rounds.
In Division 2 baseball, Arroyo Grande (14-11) will host Pasadena (13-10), and Paso Robles (15-11) will travel to West Hills to play Chaminade (13-13).
In Division 5 baseball, Nipomo (12-8) will face Ontario Christian (15-11) on the road.
In Division 3 softball, Arroyo Grande (18-9) will play at Burbank (20-6), and Paso Robles (13-10) will play at Oak Park (20-6). And in Division 5, Morro Bay (12-11) will face Gabrielino (13-8) in San Gabriel.
The Coast Valley League’s North County Christian and Coast Union are well represented in the playoffs.
In baseball, league champion North County Christian (11-5) on Friday will host the winner of today’s Division 7 wild-card game between Pacifica Christian and Newbury Park Adventist in the first round.
Coast Union (7-10) will play today at California Military Institute (13-10) in Perris in the Division 7 wild-card round.
In softball, Coast Union (12-5) — which shared the CVL title with North County Christian — will host Animo Leadership (13-10) on Thursday to open the Division 7 playoffs. And North County Christian (13-2) will face Archer (14-3) in Los Angeles in the division’s first round, also Thursday.
TIGERS GOLFER MOVES ON
San Luis Obispo boys golfer Adam Zakaria fired a 4-over 75 in Monday’s CIF-Southern Section Northern Individual Regional at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo to move on to next Monday’s section final, which will be held at Victoria Club in Riverside.
Golfers qualified by shooting a 77 or better.
The tournament medalist was Oaks Christian’s Victor Ponte, who shot a 69.
Other PAC 7 and LPL golfers who competed but did not advance include Atascadero’s Brandon Vail (79), Arroyo Grande’s Mitch Martin (80) and San Luis Obispo’s Grady Smith (80).
