Arroyo Grande High’s Zach Stevens placed second in the boys 100-yard breaststroke in 57.09 seconds at the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 finals Saturday.
Stevens finished behind just Crescenta Valley’s Young Tae Seo, who finished with a time of 55.91.
Stevens also finished 12th in the 200 individual medley in 1:57.03.
Amelia Schachter placed third in the girls 100 breaststroke for Arroyo Grande. She finished behind Ayala’s Ashley Tse (1:03.47) and Troy’s Katja Claesson (1:04.18) with a mark of 1:04.35.

Schachter also placed seventh (58.11) in the 100 butterfly.
Also for the Eagles, Peter Malouf placed eighth in the 100 breaststroke, and the girls 200 medley relay team of Corryn Haynes, Kelsey Docouto, Schachter and Claren Ruth placed fifth in 1:52.20. Arroyo Grande’s 400 freestyle relay team of Haynes, Ruth, Schachter and Morgan Clark placed seventh with a time of 3:40.56.
Atascadero’s Dustin Bolt placed fourth in boys 500 freestyle with a time of 4:34.31.
San Luis Obispo’s Alan Peterson placed two spots behind him with a school record of 4:35.45 for sixth.
Bolt also finished eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:43.16), with Peterson finishing just behind him with a time of 1:43.73.San Luis Obispo’s Gabrielle Penvenne finished with a time of 1:00.00 in the girls 100 backstroke.
San Luis Obispo finished eighth in the boys 400 relay with a school record time of 3:13.50.
TRACK AND FIELD
CIF-Southern Section Division 2 prelims
Both Garrett Weinreich and Brandon Berguia qualified in the boys shot put and the discus at the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 preliminaries.
Weinreich threw 61 feet, 2 inches and a 158-10 in the discus, and Berguia threw a 53-7 and then finished with a mark of 169-2 in the discus.
Elijah Holt qualified in the 110-meter hurdles (14.66), while Joey Reeves qualified in the pole vault (14-3), and Jackson Zimmerman qualified in the high jump (6-4).
On the girls side, Jessica Morosoli qualified with a 2:15.97 in the 800, and the 1,600 relay team qualified in 4:00.71.
Alex Mero qualified in the high jump (5-2), and Madison Jacobs qualified in the discus (143-6) and the shot put (44-2).
CIF-Southern Section Division 3 prelims
San Luis Obispo’s Bridget Devany qualified in both the girls shot put and the discus for the Tigers at the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 prelims.
She finished with a mark of 123-8 in the discus and a 38-1 in the shot put.
Mary Andino also qualified in the discus, finishing with a distance of 122-4.
In track events, San Luis Obispo had two more girls qualify. Alexandria Dalley finished the 100 in 15.95, and Christine Hoffman ran an 11:01.56 in the 3,200.
On the boys side, Paso Robles’ Zander Souza qualified in the 1,600 (4:18.11), while the Bearcats’ David Katz qualified in the discus (159-6).
Templeton’s Tevin Limon qualified after finishing with a height of 14-3 in the pole vault, and Nipomo’s Brett Kimball advanced with a 52-13⁄4 in the shot put.
Atascadero’s Robert Hixon ran a 50:48 in the 400 to qualify, and San Luis Obispo’s Seamus Land qualified with a 9:26.00 in the 3,200.
CIF-Southern Section Division 4 prelims
Templeton’s Savannah Camacho qualified in the girls 200 and was a part of the qualifying 400 relay team for the Eagles at the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 prelims.
Camacho finished the 200 in 2:10.35, and the Eagles finished the 400 relay in 4:08.42 with Autumn Russell, Veronica Russell and Heather Fields and Camacho.
In field events, Templeton’s Hannah Smith qualified in the pole vault (10-0), and Miranda Barbour qualified in the shot put (30-9).
Morro Bay’s Sierra Emrick finished with a mark of 4-10 in the high jump to qualify.
On the boys side, Allen Kroger, Zal Robles, Connor Truhitte and Cameron Silzer all qualified in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:33.80.
Morro Bay’s Ryley Wall hit a mark of 12-0 in the pole vault to qualify.
