Nipomo High senior Devonte Jackson has committed to join the Dixie State football team as a recruited walk-on, he said Monday.
The Red Storm play in the Division II Great Northwest Conference. Dixie State is located in St. George, Utah.
Jackson, a 5-foot-10, 205-pound running back, said the Red Storm is looking to play him on offense, likely at fullback, and he will redshirt his first year.
“I’m very excited,” he said. “It’s an honor to be playing up at that next level and to get a chance.”
Never miss a local story.
Jackson was one of just a few seniors for the injury-riddled Titans this past year. He rushed for a team-best 706 yards and six touchdowns on 152 carries. Jackson also had a prominent role on Nipomo’s Northwest Division quarterfinalist squad as a junior, primarily as a versatile blocking back.
