Four San Luis Obispo County prep golfers advanced to next week’s CIF-Southern Section Individual Championships based on their play Monday at the northern regional held at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.
Atascadero High’s Austin Kaiser and Nipomo’s Rory Doll each had the best local performances, carding 2-under-par 70s, tying for third overall, while Arroyo Grande’s Matt McAustin was next at 71.
The top 30 advanced to the finals, which will be held Monday at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc.
San Luis Obispo’s Joseph Zakaria also moved on, shooting a 74, while Tigers teammate Tyler Anderson barely missed the cut, one stroke back.

“It was a very strong showing for the PAC 7,” Atascadero coach Sam DeRose said.
Templeton’s Tanner Westbrook carded a 78. West Ranch’s J.J. Holen won medalist honors with a 67.
SOUTHERN SECTION BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL PAIRINGSSeveral county softball and baseball teams were awarded playoff berths when the CIF-Southern Section announced its divisional postseason brackets.
In softball, Atascadero finished ranked No. 7 in Division 3 after claiming the PAC 7 championship. The Greyhounds (23-5) will host the winner of today’s wild-card matchup between Los Altos (11-9) and Dana Hills (13-11) in the first round at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. At the same time Thursday, league runner-up Paso Robles (14-13) will visit Burroughs of Burbank (17-9), the Pacific League champion.
In a Division 4 wild-card contest, Morro Bay (12-16), which earned the No. 4 seed from the Los Padres League, will play at St. Paul of Santa Fe Springs (18-10), a third-place finisher in the Del Rey League, at 3:15 this afternoon.
North County Christian (13-4), which finished second in the Coast Valley League, will play at Santa Cruz League champion Bellarmine-Jefferson (14-4) at 3:15 on Thursday afternoon in Division 7 first-round play. Division 7 also features Coastal Christian (9-5), the third-place entrant from the CVL, which will host Liberty Christian (6-13-1), the No. 3 finisher from the Express League, in a wild-card draw at 3:15 p.m. today.
In baseball, Paso Robles (17-11), which won the PAC 7 crown, will open Division 2 first-round play at home at 3:15 on Friday afternoon against the winner of today’s wild-card matchup between Chaminade (23-6) and Diamond Bar (15-10), third-place squads from the Mission and Sierra leagues, respectively.
Four PAC 7 baseball teams will also play in the Division 2 wild-card round at 3:15 p.m. today, as league runner-up Arroyo Grande (20-7) will host Harvard-Westlake (15-13-1), an at-large school from the Mission League; third-place San Luis Obispo (13-13-1) will visit Bellflower (17-7), a No. 3 team from the Suburban League; fourth-place Atascadero (12-13) will travel to face Valencia (17-10), the Empire League’s No. 3 seed; and fifth-place Nipomo (13-13), an at-large entry, will visit Channel League runner-up San Marcos (14-10).
Additionally, a pair of county programs will take the diamond for Division 7’s first round at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. North County Christian (16-0), which won the CVL championship and enters as the division’s No. 2 overall seed, will host the winner of today’s wild-card game between California Military Institution of Perris (6-6) and Jack Weaver of Murrieta (9-7). Shandon (7-8), which finished third in the CVL, will visit third-seeded Milken Community of Los Angeles (15-4), the Heritage League winner.
