San Luis Obispo High needed five sets to defeat Templeton in a nonleague shootout Tuesday night.
Holland Boege racked up 22 kills and nine digs for the Tigers (5-7) in the team’s final match before league play begins Thursday.
Templeton jumped out to 1-0 set lead before the Tigers stormed back to take the match, 18-25, 25-20, 25-19, 20-25, 18-16.
San Luis Obispo’s Rilee Day added 16 digs, three aces and eight kills.
“We were expecting a battle from the very beginning,” Templeton coach Cameron Schaeffer said. “It’s not a surprise to me that it went five.”
Templeton (7-5) outside hitter Lauren Ralsto had 16 kills and 15 digs in the loss.
“Tonight they just showed really what they can do and how well they can handle pressure,” San Luis Obispo coach Marci Beddall said. “We had strong pass after strong pass and strong hit after strong hit and that is not easy for anyone in that tight situation.”
“Today we showed that we can use our energy and finish games,” Tigers senior Holland Boege said.

The Tigers will look to bring that energy when it opens league play against a top-ranked Arroyo Grande team Thursday.
Senior outside hitter Katie Bolts had 11 kills and eight digs for Templeton.
Templeton also begins league play against Santa Ynez, a team Schaeffer says is the toughest out in the Los Padres League.
