The Mission Prep girls volleyball team finished in the top eight of the San Luis Obispo Tournament on Saturday.
In pool play, the Royals defeated Rio Mesa 25-22, 25-17, lost to Sanger 18-25, 25-20, 15-12 and then defeated Central Valley Christian 25-16, 25-23.
Seeded seventh in bracket play, Mission lost 25-18 in a one-game playoff to second-seeded Viewpoint.
Paso Robles team dropped four of its six matches during the two-day tournament.
Tegan Curren had eight kills, two aces and seven digs in the Bearcats’ 25-18, 25-22 win over Kingsburg on Friday. Kalyn Armstrong added six kills and one block. In the Bearcats’ second match Friday, they lost to San Marcos, 25-18, 25-21. Hannah Katches had four kills, two digs and one block in the loss. The day ended with a three-set win over Sierra Canyon, 25-15, 25-10, 15-12.
On Saturday, the Bearcats (4-5) dropped all three matches losing to Elsinore (25-18, 25-15), Rocklin (25-20, 25-10) and El Toro (25-11, 25-23).
Paso Robles (4-5) returns to action Tuesday at home against Nipomo.
Atascadero dropped three matches Saturday, before winning in a one-set playoff against Saugus 25-11. The Greyhounds then lost in the second round playoff against Paso Robles 25-21.
In the first game of the day, Atascadero lost 26-24, 25-23 to Lemoore. In the second, Frontier topped the Greyhounds 25-9, 26-24, and in the third, San Marcos won 25-20, 25-14.
Kaylie Griffin had 18 kills and five blocks, and Taylor Degnan had 15 kills and six digs on the day. Brooke Harbottle had 29 assists for Atascadero.
