The Nipomo High football team opened their season with a 21-13 win over visiting Pioneer Valley on Friday night.
Gavin Hall threw for two touchdowns on 9 for 12 passing, finishing with 122 yards.
Pioneer Valley struck first, scoring from three yards out on a run by Cedric Pullen.
Nipomo tied the score with 6:40 remaining in the second quarter, when Hall found Tyler Diaz for a 10-yard score. Juan Eguiluz converted the PAT.

With 2:20 remaining in the first half, Nipomo’s JJ Ramirez scored on three yard run to make the score 14-7.
On 4th-and-1, Pioneer Valley scored on a one-yard run by Jacob Salinas, but Pioneer Valley failed to convert the PAT.
The Titans took the lead for good with 10:35 remaining on Hall’s second touchdown pass, a 33-yard strike to Spencer Pool.
Nipomo was led on defense by middle linebacker Terry Wambolt, who had a blocked punt, 12 unassisted tackles and six assisted tackles.
