In the first game of the doubleheader, Cuesta shortstop Kryn Masutani hit a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh.
Before Masutani’s homer, Santa Barbara led the entire game after scoring four unearned runs after a two-out error in the top of the second.
Cuesta came back to score one in the bottom of the second and two more in the third. Santa Barbara scored again in the fifth.
Alexandra Abott (4-6) retired the first batter in the bottom of the seventh before a single and walk brought up Masutani as the winning run. Masutani finished 2 for 4 with two runs and three RBI.
Celine Blanco (4-6) entered the game with bases loaded and no outs in the top of the sixth. The first two batters each grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Masutani threw them out at home. An unassisted ground out to third ended the threat. Blanco retired the side in order in the top of the seventh.
In the second game, Santa Barbara put the Cougars (11-13, 4-1 WSC) away early by scoring 11 runs in the first three innings, including eight runs in the top of the third.
Masutani had two of Cuesta’s three hits, finishing 2 for 2 with one RBI. Second baseman Jasmine Singh was 1 for 2 with a run and a RBI double.
