Three starters for the Cuesta College men’s basketball team combined to score just seven points in the Cougars’ 85-64 loss to Bakersfield at the Allan Hancock Bulldog Classic on Tuesday.
Cuesta, which entered ranked No. 14 in the state, and was coming off a 74-72 win over Fresno on Monday, fell behind 40-29 by halftime against the 10th-ranked Renegades.
“We came out extremely flat,” Cuesta head coach Rusty Blair said. “We were trying to go into (Western State Conference play) on a good note, but we were never in the game.”
Chase Adams led Bakersfield with 20 points.
Former Templeton High star Seth Koenig had a team-high 16 for Cuesta (13-4), which will play in today’s third-place game at 3 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
“We’ll find out our character (today),” Blair said.
