Danielle Crawford and Olivia Martinez hit back-to-back homers in the seventh inning as the Cuesta College softball team solidified the No. 2 spot in the Western State Conference with a 6-2 victory over Santa Barbara on Tuesday.
Cuesta entered the game with a chance of tying Ventura for the regular-season WSC title, but by virtue of Ventura’s eighth-inning win over Oxnard on Tuesday, the Cougars finished in second.
With the score tied 2-2 in the seventh, Arie Richardson reached base for the Cougars with a one-out single and Kristen Morones followed with a double. That set the stage for two straight home runs from Crawford (2 for 4, three RBI) and Martinez (3 for 4).
Cuesta wrapped up its regular season 26-17 overall and 19-6 in the WSC. The postseason starts next week.

Errors prevented Cuesta from sealing a comeback win in the WSC game.
The Cougars fell behind 4-1 by the third inning, but a Jacob Domingos three-run home run in the sixth—part of a five-run rally — put Cuesta up 8-4.
Cuesta Jason Roenicke allowed runs in each of the first three innings and settled down until the seventh, when he gave up three more runs and left with an 8-7 lead.
Cuesta added another run to pad its lead, but reliever Mike Alldredge allowed a three-run homer in the eighth and, coupled with two errors, the Cougars lost.
