Sophomore Justin De Los Santos shot an even-par 72 in the final round to ensure a top-20 individual finish and lead the Mustangs to ninth in the team standings at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational on Tuesday at the Makai Golf Club at Princeville on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
De Los Santos, who posted scores of 67 and 68 in the first two rounds, finished in a tie for 13th place with a 9-under 207 total.
Cal Poly was ninth out of 15 in the team race with a 14-under 850 total. Georgia Tech won at 809.
Medalist Frederick Wedel of Pepperdine led wire-to-wire to finish at 20-under after posting daily scores of 64, 63 and 69.

Cal Poly swimmer earns weekly honor
Cal Poly freshman and San Luis Obispo native Nolan Newland was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation’s male athlete of the week for his performance in the Mustangs’ dual versus UC Santa Barbara this past Saturday.
Newland won the 500-yard freestyle in 4 minutes, 38.29 seconds, and was fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:42.67.
