Elise Krieghoff, a junior on the Cal Poly women’s soccer team, was named the Big West offensive player of the week on Monday, making it a conference-record eighth time the forward has earned the accolade.
Krieghoff had a goal and an assist in both Friday’s win over UC Irvine and Sunday’s victory against UC Riverside, including a game-winning 82nd-minute tally against the Highlanders that made it on ESPN’s Sportscenter Top 10 Plays at No. 3.
Krieghoff is tied with Kolleen Kassis for the Mustangs’ all-time scoring record with 45 goals, and trails only Jennifer Borcich of UC Santa Barbara for the Big West career scoring record.
Borcich scored 56 times from 2001 to 2004.
Cal Poly hosts UC Santa Barbara Sunday at noon at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
