Chase Minter tallied two goals and one assist to lead Cal Poly’s men’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory at North Carolina State on Sunday.
Minter scored in the 16th and 44th minutes and assisted on Steve Palacios’ goal in the 17th.
Matt LaGrassa and Kip Colvey assisted on Minter’s first goal, and Kaba Alkebulan and Joseph Bolous assisted on Minter’s second goal.
The Mustangs (1-1) were outshot 17-8 but found a way to win behind goalkeeper Wade Hamilton, who notched nine saves.
North Carolina State’s Michael Bajza scored on a penalty kick in the 64th minute, but the Wolfpack (0-1-1) could draw no closer.
Mustangs shut out in women’s soccer
Claire Emslie scored a pair of second-half goals to lift Florida Atlantic to a 2-0 victory at Cal Poly on Sunday in Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
Emslie scored unassisted in the 57th minute and on an assist from Dani Dangremond in the 79th for the Owls.
Cal Poly (1-2-0) outshot Florida Atlantic (2-1-1) by a 15-5 margin, but goalkeeper Sydney Drinkwater rescued the Owls with a six-save shutout.
It was only the second loss in the past 14 home matches for the Mustangs.
