The Cal Poly baseball team fell for just the third time this season, losing 1-0 to visiting Notre Dame on Friday night at Baggett Stadium.
The Irish (11-5) scored in the top of the ninth when Lane Richards scored on an infield single by Frank DeSico.
The Mustangs (15-3) had their chances, totaling eight hits, but they left 10 runners on base, including two in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Adam Norton pitched eight solid innings for Notre Dame, scattering seven hits and striking out five for his fifth straight win to start the year. The Irish are 17th in this week’s Baseball America poll.

Matt Imhof went 7 2⁄3 innings in the start for Cal Poly, giving up six hits and striking out 11 before Reed Reilly came on in relief in the eighth inning.
Reilly gave up two hits, including the game-clincher, and one run in the loss.
Brian Mundell, who hit a three-run home run in the Mustangs’ 6-3 win Thursday, was 2 for 4 with a double. David Armendariz also went 2 for 4, the only other Cal Poly batter with more than one hit.
Cal Poly will look to take the series in the finale today at noon.
