The Cal Poly women's basketball team (2-1) dominated San Diego (1-1), 69-50, in the Mustangs' home opener Saturday at Mott Gym, forcing 26 turnovers and racking up 15 steals.
Cal Poly was up 37-22 at halftime, widening its lead to as much as 20 points in the second half.
Senior starters Kayla Griffin and Brittany Woodard led the Mustangs offense. Griffin had 16 points and seven rebounds, and Woodard had nine points and six rebounds for Cal Poly.
Nikol Allison and Ashley Cascio came in off the bench and played substantial supporting roles. Allison scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field, and Cascio had six points and five assists.
