The Cal Poly men’s soccer team gave up an 88th minute goal in a 3-2 loss to visiting Sacramento State on Saturday night.
The Hornets struck first, scoring in the fourth minute, but Ronald Medrano Williams headed home the equalizer in the 36th minute to tie it at 1-1 before the half.
Sacramento State struck early again in the second half, this time converting a penalty kick after a Mustangs hand ball in the penalty box in the 49th minute to take the 2-1 lead.
Mackenzie Pridham later tallied his 10th goal of the season for Cal Poly (10-6-2, 4-3-1 Big West Conference), tying it at 2.
The game looked destined for overtime until Hornets midfielder Gabe Silveira scored in the 88th minute to hand Sacramento State (7-6-2, 5-2-1) the dramatic victory.

Molly Pon had 16 kills, and Chelsea Hardin had 15, but the Mustangs (3-19, 2-8 Big West) fell 25-16, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22 in Santa Barbara.
Maddie Kuber had 26 assists and 14 digs, and Shannon Garrett had 19 assists and 10 digs for Cal Poly.
The Gauchos (13-12, 6-4) had four players record double-digit kills — Leah Sully (18), Kara Sherrard (14), Katey Thompson (12) and Britton Taylor (10).
