Former Mission Prep star Jordan Hasay won the women’s 1,500-meter race at the Pac-12 championships, narrowly missing the meet record Sunday in Eugene, Ore.
Hasay, a junior, finished in 4 minutes, 13.28 seconds, edging out Washington’s Katie Flood, who crossed the finish line at 4:13.80.
The Pac-12 meet record is 4:13.21, set in 2003 by UCLA’s Lena Nilsson.
The win gave 10 points to the Ducks, whose women’s team won its fourth consecutive Pac-12 championship with 200.50 points. Stanford was second with 124.50 points.
Never miss a local story.
On the men’s side, UCLA’s Tom Nagengast, a former Paso Robles High standout, finished fourth in the discus.
Nagengast, a senior, threw 179 feet, five inches on his third throw. His teammate, sophomore Matthew Kosecki, won the event with a distance of 193-8.
Nagengast’s finish was worth five points, helping the Bruins to a fourth-place showing. UCLA had 86 points, finishing behind Arizona, Arizona State and Oregon, which won the event with 140 points.
