Portland State scored four runs in the third inning and defeated the Cal Poly softball team 7-1 on Sunday as the Mustangs completed play in the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic.
Sadie Lopez and Danielle Lynn each hit two-run homers in the third inning off Cal Poly starter Rebecca Patton (1-4).
Nichole Latham struck out five in earning the win for Portland State (6-5).
Kim Westlund had two hits, and Mariah Cochiolo scored the lone run for Cal Poly (2-8).
Ohlone 6, Cuesta 0; Delta 5, Cuesta 1
The Cougars (4-7) made six errors over two games in a pair of losses at the College of the Sequoias Tournament in Visalia.
Karen Berna stuck out six and allowed two earned runs in the loss to Delta.
Liz Isaak singled home Becca Lenz in the fifth inning for Cuesta’s only run of the day.

Cougars starter Phillip Gerber (2-1) held Citrus to two runs over eight innings.
Catcher Chris Lindmark had two RBI, and Andrew Montanari and LaBronze Sanderson had three hits apiece for Cuesta (6-5).
In the second game, San Luis Obispo High alum John Tiedemann (2-1) got the win. Michael Camporeale had two hits, including a double, and two RBI as part of Cuesta’s 12-hit attack.
San Luis Obispo alum Davey Schultz, Lindmark, and Sanderson also had two hits in the second game.

Cal Poly dropped just two sets in the win.
Alexa Lee got a win at No. 1 singles and also teamed with Amy Markhoff to pick up a win in doubles for the Mustangs (6-3). Ashley Pane, Jocelyn Davis and Florence Lehane also had singles and doubles wins.
