On Tuesday, the Cal Poly men’s golf team shot a 1-under-287 to finalize its three-day team total at 5-under, good for sixth place of 16 teams, at the Palouse Cougar Collegiate tournament hosted by Washington State.
Washington State defended their home course, the par-72 Palouse Ridge Golf Club, by carding a tournament-best 37 under. Idaho (25 under) and Portland rounded (17 under) rounded out the top three.
Pace Johnson led Cal Poly with a 2-under 214 for the tournament, which tied him for 16th.
Idaho’s Damian Telles won the individual title at 15-under by shooting a final-day best 7-under 65.
Cuesta volleyball team loses on the road
The visiting Cuesta College volleyball team lost in four sets to College of the Sequoias to drop to 3-2 on the year.
The Cougars fell in a two-set hole early and weren’t able to mount a comeback in their 25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22 defeat.
Daniella Florant led the Cougars with 13 kills, and Kristin Urias and Tess Gilkey added 10 kills apiece.
Gilkey, a freshman out of Hanford, has tallied double figures in kills in all five matches this season.
