The Cal Poly volleyball team is off to its best start since 2005 after beating Idaho 3-1 on Friday night in the opening day of the North Harbour Marriott Invitational at the University of Portland.
Adlee Van Winden had a match-high 15 kills for the Mustangs, who are 6-1 for the first time since 2005 after the 25-14, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20 victory.
Taylor Gruenewald had 10 kills and five blocks for Cal Poly, Taylor Nelson had a match-high 42 assists with 16 digs and Raeann Greisen added nine kills and 10 digs. Nelson also had two of the Mustangs' six service aces.
Cal Poly plays two matches Saturday, meeting St. Francis at 1 p.m. and host Portland at 7 p.m.
