The Cal Poly volleyball team lost for the first time season Saturday, falling to Baylor in the Hampton Inn Waco Baylor Tournament championship match, 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23.
Cal Poly’s Raeann Greisen had a match-high 22 kills, and freshman Adlee Van Winden added 18 kills. Taylor Nelson racked up 49 assists, and Katherine Brouker had 19 digs for the Mustangs (5-1). Baylor is also 5-1.
Cal Poly was within striking distance throughout, but failed to string together a run to win multiple sets.
Earlier Saturday, the Mustangs defeated Sam Houston State 25-20, 25-12, 25-12.
Van Winden led all players with 14 kills, and Greisen had eight kills. Nelson distributed 23 assists, and Brouker had a team-best 15 digs.
