The San Luis Obispo Blues suffered their third straight summer collegiate baseball loss Saturday, dropping an 11-8, 15-inning game to the Walnut Creek Crawdads at SLO Stadium.
San Luis Obispo (7-3, 2-3 California Collegiate League) led 4-1 entering the seventh inning, but the Crawdads (3-2, 3-1), the defending CCL Northern Division champions, scored single runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.
Neither team scored again until Walnut Creek erupted for seven runs in the top of the 15th inning.
The Blues tried to rally in the bottom of the 15th, scoring four of their own but it wasn't enough.
Never miss a local story.
Both teams had 14 hits. Garrett Giovannelli led the Blues' attack with three hits and two RBI, and Ryan Long and Kyle Atkins also had two RBI apiece. Long and Giovannelli both had triples, and San Luis Obispo also got doubles from Burton DeKoning, Atkins, Harley Faye and Quin Walbergh.
The two teams wrap up their three-game series Sunday at 1 p.m. at SLO Stadium.
